Sharon Rachel is a Medical Educator and Principal Faculty in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies at Morehouse School of Medicine. She concurrently pursues a part-time PhD in History & Sociology at Georgia Institute of Technology’s Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts. Her work bridges public health education, research, and leadership development, with NIH- and HRSA-funded projects focusing on biobehavioral resilience in African American women and primary care training programs like CHAMPS and PALS.
- Education: BA in Women’s Studies/Sociology (University of South Carolina), MA in Women’s Studies (Ohio State), MPH in Behavioral Sciences & Health Education (Emory University).
Her research emphasizes sociopolitical determinants of health disparities, women’s leadership in climate adaptation, and intersectional health equity. She has led national training initiatives and peer counseling programs, advocating for sexual assault survivors and marginalized communities. Over 20+ years, Sharon has earned numerous accolades including the CRIDC Essay Competition awards and Satcher Health Leadership Institute’s Excellence Award.
Sharon oversees multidisciplinary teams through NIH/HRSA grants, integrating curriculum development across public health and medical education. Her leadership spans program evaluation, community resource coordination, and feminist approaches to social justice in healthcare. She is affiliated with the Satcher Health Leadership Institute and Emory Rollins School of Public Health alumni networks.
