Sharon Jalene, Ph.D., is Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, Associate Professor-in-Residence, and Director of the B.S. in Applied Health Sciences at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She is affiliated with the School of Integrated Health Sciences and Department of Kinesiology & Nutrition Sciences.
Education
Dr. Jalene earned both her master's and doctoral degrees from UNLV.
Research Focus
Her research examines college student depression, intervention strategies, and the bidirectional relationship between depression and cardiorespiratory fitness. Additional work explores neuromodulation techniques for Parkinson's disease rehabilitation. Specific interests include:
- Mental health disparities among gender/sexual minorities
- COVID-19 impacts on student wellness
- Transcranial direct current stimulation efficacy
- Physical activity interventions
Publications Overview
Recent publications demonstrate strong focus on mental health interventions (particularly depression in college students), impacts of physical activity on psychological outcomes, and neuromodulation applications in Parkinson's disease.
