Sharon Block is a Professor of Practice and Executive Director of the Center for Labor and a Just Economy at Harvard Law School. She previously served as Acting Administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs in President Biden’s White House and as a member of the National Labor Relations Board under President Obama. Her work focuses on labor policy, regulatory reform, and worker empowerment. Block leads the Clean Slate for Worker Power project, advocating for transformative labor law reforms to enhance worker rights and economic equity. She has held key roles in federal labor policy, including in the Obama Administration, and has advised on labor issues during the Biden-Harris transition.
Her research interests span administrative law, labor law, and the intersection of labor rights with climate justice. She frequently publishes in outlets like OnLabor, The American Prospect, and The Hill, addressing topics such as NLRB independence, climate policies affecting workers, and corporate strategies against unionization. Block serves on boards including the Roosevelt Institute and the Labor and Employment Relations Association.
Block teaches courses on Administrative Law, Organizing for Economic Justice, and Policy Advocacy at Harvard Law School.
