Sharon Anyiam is a Lecturer in Health and Wellbeing in Society at De Montfort University, affiliated with the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences and the School of Allied Health Sciences. Her PhD research explores Black millennial narratives on criminalization and resistance, while her broader work intersects race, racism, and social justice.
- Education: BA American Studies with a Year Abroad, MA Human Rights and Global Health
Research Focus: Qualitative studies on race and ethnicity, intersectional social justice, activism/resistance, and maternal health disparities for minoritized groups. Her recent work examines systemic inequities in vaccine distribution and community-led pandemic responses.
Key Contributions: Co-edited reports on hate crime systemic injustice (2019) and migrant community resilience during COVID-19 (2021). She has presented at the University of Nairobi and University of Leeds on topics including Black activism and vaccine apartheid.
