Sharon A. Suh is a Professor in Theology and Religious Studies at Seattle University's College of Arts & Sciences. She holds a BA from Trinity College, M.T.S. from Harvard Divinity School, and Ph.D. from Harvard University's Committee on the Study of Religion. Her work focuses on intersections of Buddhism with race, gender, trauma, and mindfulness. She teaches courses like 'Buddhist Thought and Practice' and 'Buddhism and Film.'
Dr. Suh serves as President of Sakyadhita International Association of Buddhist Women, and on the board of The Center for Mindful Eating. She is a certified Mindful Eating-Conscious Living teacher and holds trauma-informed yoga certifications. Her research explores Korean American religious communities, Buddhist cinema, and embodiment in spiritual practices.
Her notable publications include Occupy This Body (2019), Silver Screen Buddha (2015), and Being Buddhist in a Christian World (2004). Recent articles address Buddhist representation in global cinema and mindfulness in academic contexts.
