Shanyu Tang

Professor Shanyu Tang is a Chair Professor of Information Security at the University of West London, School of Medicine and Biosciences. With a career spanning since 2000 (starting as a Lecturer in Informatics and Multimedia Technology at the University of North London), he has authored 106 publications including 66 peer-reviewed journal papers in IEEE/ACM Transactions, IET journals, and IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics, 38 conference papers, and two books. He served as principal investigator for 11 external grants (seven national) and filed an Internet of Things security patent.

• Research Interests: Information security, cryptography, network security, steganography, data encryption, and secure communications. His work includes VoIP steganography detection, chaotic encryption, biomedical data privacy, and RFID authentication protocols.

• Advising: Supervised nine PhD students in computer science and informatics, participated in seven external PhD examinations, and served on editorial boards of international journals.
