Shanti Amalanathan

Shanti Amalanathan is a Part-time Lecturer at Parsons School of Design with 15+ years in luxury fashion at Hermes. Her interdisciplinary work bridges industry experience with critical analysis of fashion systems.

Amalanathan's research examines social justice issues in fashion, particularly marginalization in the modest fashion industry. Her doctoral work analyzed experiences of Muslim women consumers and entrepreneurs in the US market.

She frequently presents on luxury marketing and ethical consumption at institutions including Hult International Business School. Beyond academia, Amalanathan founded an e-commerce bridal jewelry brand.
