Shanta Scott is a Clinical Instructor in the School of Social Work at Stephen F. Austin State University, affiliated with the College of Liberal and Applied Arts. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work from SFA and a Master of Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. Her research focuses on supporting at-risk populations, mental health care, intellectual disabilities, and promoting spiritual and cultural diversity, particularly among young adults. Scott emphasizes intentional intergenerational leadership in rural nonprofit organizations and Black women’s collective identity. Her work also addresses challenges faced by African American students in predominantly white institutions. She has published peer-reviewed articles on leadership models, nonprofit governance, and student advocacy. Beyond research, Scott’s contributions highlight practical applications of social work principles in diverse community settings.
