Shanshan Pan serves as Associate Professor of Accounting in the College of Business at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, where she teaches Intermediate Accounting I and Cost Accounting courses. Her academic career bridges theoretical rigor with practical industry experience gained through roles at a Fortune 50 company and international trading firm.
Dr. Pan earned her Ph.D. in Accounting from Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge. Her educational foundation combines advanced academic training with direct corporate financial experience, creating a distinctive perspective on accounting practice and research.
Her research program focuses on financial accounting and reporting, with specialized expertise in market anomaly detection, earnings quality assessment, earnings management practices, financial analyst behavior, and cash flow analysis. This work has gained international recognition through presentations at the American Accounting Association Annual Meeting, Canadian Academic Accounting Association Annual Conference, and European Accounting Association Annual Congress.
Dr. Pan's scholarly contributions have been recognized through induction into prestigious academic honor societies:
