Dr. Shanora G. Brown is an Associate Professor of Biology in the Biological & Physical Sciences college at South Carolina State University. Her academic roles include mentoring students and co-founding The Sisters in STEM (S.i.S.) Network, while also advising the Beta Kappa Chi National Scientific Honor Society. Her research spans cancer, health disparities, community health, genetic predisposition to disease, obesity, and nutrition.
Education:
- B.S. in Biology (Chemistry Minor), 2006, South Carolina State University
- Ph.D. in Biology (Molecular Biology - Cancer focus), 2013, Clark Atlanta University
Research Interests: Dr. Brown’s work focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of cancer, addressing systemic health disparities, and exploring genetic factors linked to disease susceptibility. She also investigates the impacts of obesity and nutrition on community health outcomes.
