Shannon Zellars-Strohl is a Lecturer in English at the University of Maryland. She holds graduate degrees in Victorian Literature from Indiana University and Philosophy of Religion from Florida State University. Her research examines representations in literature and film, including Victorian-era themes and contemporary true crime narratives.
Zellars-Strohl's interdisciplinary research explores intersections of literary analysis and cultural studies, focusing on portrayals of education in horror media, Haitian zombie mythology in Victorian contexts, and Jack the Ripper in modern true crime. Her work has been presented at major conferences including Victorians Institute and Northeast Modern Language Association.
Prior to joining the University of Maryland in 2018, she taught literature, writing, and film courses at Rhode Island School of Design and American University, demonstrating a commitment to diverse pedagogical approaches across institutions.
