Mr. Shannon Thames serves as an Instructor/Adviser in the Department of History and Philosophy at Jackson State University (JSU), within the College of Liberal Arts. He holds an M.A. (2008) and B.A. (2007) in History from JSU.
Research Interests: His work focuses on Servant Leadership in Higher Education, Black Serviceman in Higher Education (1945-1970), the emergence of Mississippi’s dual school system, WWII’s impact on African American communities, and 20th-century U.S. social history. He is currently completing a dissertation titled *Perceptions of Servant Leadership among HBCU Leaders*.
Courses Taught: Includes HIST 101, HIST 111, HIST 112, HIST 201, HIST 202, HIST 440, and others. He is affiliated with the American Historical Association and Phi Alpha Theta.
