Shannon Pynn is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Science at Utah State University's Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services. She serves as the director of the Psychosocial Dynamics of Sport (PsyDS) Lab, where she leads research on sport psychology topics with a focus on youth athletes and their families.

- MA in Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation, University of Alberta (2017)
Research Focus: Dr. Pynn's research centers on the psychosocial aspects of sport among children and their families. Her work explores how parents manage the emotional demands of youth sport and how their attitudes and behaviors influence their children's sport experiences. She employs qualitative research methods and incorporates positive psychology principles to enhance athlete well-being and performance.
Teaching and Mentorship: She teaches multiple courses including Mental Aspects of Sports Performance and Psychological Aspects of Sports Performance at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Dr. Pynn actively mentors students and welcomes inquiries from prospective undergraduate and graduate students seeking research supervision.
Research Labs and Collaborations: Dr. Pynn directs the PsyDS Lab, which collaborates closely with other research groups including the Social and Motivational Processes in Physical Activity Lab (SiMPL) led by Dr. Al Smith and the Families in Sport Lab led by Dr. Travis Dorsch. These collaborations create a rich interdisciplinary environment for sport psychology research.
