Dr. Shannon Hall-Mills is an Assistant Professor and Graduate Program Coordinator at Florida State University’s School of Communication Science and Disorders, with an affiliation to the Florida Center for Reading Research (FCRR). She leads the SPEAR Lab, focusing on school-age language, literacy, and speech-language pathology practices. Her research emphasizes improving assessment accuracy and intervention efficacy for children with communication disorders, alongside studying educational policy impacts on clinical practices. Dr. Hall-Mills holds BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Speech-Language Pathology and Communication Science from FSU.
Her research interests span language-literacy disorders, evidence-based school practices, and policy evaluation. Notable grants include leadership in a $1.2 million personnel preparation grant for high-need populations and a $2.8 million USAID-funded Ethiopia education project.
