Shannon Guillot-Wright

Shannon Guillot-Wright, PhD is an Associate Professor at UTHealth Houston School of Public Health, where she also serves as Director of Policy & Practice at the Center for Violence Prevention and Director of the Total Worker Health® program at the Southwest Center for Occupational and Environmental Health.

• PhD in Medical Humanities from UT Medical Branch
• MA in Human Rights from Columbia University
• Postdoctoral training at Penn State's Edna Bennett Pierce Prevention Research Center

Her research focuses on:

• Labor rights and evidence-based policymaking
• Precarious employment among migrant and low-income workers
• Power dynamics, social influence, and community-driven change
• Photo-ethnographic methodology and visual storytelling

Dr. Guillot-Wright leads CDC- and NIH-funded projects, including initiatives for:

• Primary care clinics for migrant waterfront workers
• Firearm research utilization in policymaking

She has received recognition for her work, including:

• Selection in National Academy of Medicine’s Health Equity Gallery
• AAMC Center for Health Justice team member for medical mistrust research
