Dr. Shanley Longfield is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Queensland Brain Institute, affiliated with the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences at The University of Queensland. Their research focuses on the nanoscale organization of synaptic vesicles and protein interactions in neuronal signaling.
- Education: PhD in Neuroscience from The University of Queensland
Current research investigates mechanisms of synaptic nano-biomolecular condensates, endocytic nanocluster formation, and presynaptic targeting of neurotoxins. Key techniques involve super-resolution microscopy and spatiotemporal cluster analysis.
Recent publications in Nature Communications and The EMBO Journal examine dynamin isoforms, synapsin tetramerisation, tau protein dynamics, and botulinum toxin targeting mechanisms. Collaborative work spans multiple disciplines including neuroscience, molecular biology, and biomedical research.
Dr. Longfield is available for research supervision and contributes to the institute's ongoing studies in synaptic biology.
