Shangrila Joshi is a Professor and core faculty member in the Master of Environmental Studies program at The Evergreen State College. Her research focuses on the human dimensions of climate change, environmental justice, and Indigenous governance systems. She holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Policy, and Studies from the University of Oregon (2011), an M.A. in International Affairs from Ohio University (2004), and a B.Sc. in Environmental Science from St. Xavier's College (2001).
Her scholarship includes the book *Climate Change Justice and the Global Resource Commons* (2011), which critiques market-based climate solutions through a political ecology lens. Her current book project examines the Newa Guthi’s role in sustaining socio-ecological resilience in Nepal. She teaches interdisciplinary courses such as *Climate Justice*, *Social Science Research Methods*, and *Decolonizing Climate Justice*, emphasizing critical engagement with conflicting environmental perspectives.
Joshi’s work bridges academic research and community practice, advocating for Indigenous knowledge systems and equitable climate policies. She contributes to global dialogues on environmental politics through book chapters in the *Handbook of Global Environmental Politics* and *Handbook of Political Ecology*.
