Shane Kent is a Senior Lecturer in Physical Education and Sport Coaching at the School of Sport and Physical Activity within the College of Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences at Sheffield Hallam University. He holds qualifications including MSc, PGCE, PGCM, and BSc. With a background as a professional footballer for Sheffield United and Chesterfield, and youth caps for Northern Ireland, Shane transitioned into education as a mature student, gaining multiple academic qualifications before entering teaching roles in further and higher education.
His teaching focuses on applied practical pedagogy, sport science, health, and physical literacy, emphasizing collaborative and innovative approaches to engage students. He believes in fostering growth mindsets and holistic development in learners.
