Shan Lu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Her research focuses on operating systems, distributed systems, and automated bug fixing. She teaches courses in distributed systems and operating systems, consistently receiving outstanding student evaluations.
Lu received her education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she earned the W. J. Poppelbaum Memorial Award in 2007 for excellence in computer architecture. Her work has been widely recognized, including a Best Paper Award at FAST '13 and an NSF CAREER Award in 2010.
Her research contributions span atomicity violation detection, Linux file system evolution analysis, and automated bug fixing techniques. She is also committed to promoting gender diversity in computing, participating in initiatives like the Grace Hopper Celebration and mentoring through CRA-W programs.
