Dr Shalinie King is a Senior Lecturer at the Sydney Dental School, University of Sydney, and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Westmead Applied Research Centre. A Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, she combines clinical practice with research focused on the intersection of oral health and systemic diseases.
- PhD in Diet-Induced Metabolic Changes and Bone Tissue Metabolism (2019)
- MSc(Med), BDS (Hons), GradCert (HEd)
Her research explores:
- Oral health impacts on cardiovascular disease and diabetes
- Role of nutrition in osseointegration and bone health
- Geriatric oral rehabilitation and aging population challenges
- Translational studies on metabolic syndrome and oral microbiome
Key projects include mHealth interventions for oral-cardiac disease prevention and clinical trials evaluating periodontal therapy in CVD risk reduction. Recent grants from the Charles Perkins Centre and Sydney Health Partners support her work.
