Dr. Shakti Shrestha is a Lecturer at the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, The University of Queensland (UQ), where he coordinates the first-semester Bachelor of Pharmacy program (PHRM1101). He previously served as a Research Fellow on the EMBRACE project, funded by the Australian Government's Medical Research Future Fund, focusing on quality use of medicines in residential aged care.
- Education: PhD in Clinical Pharmacy (UQ, 2023), MSc in Clinical Pharmacology (University of Aberdeen, 2010), BPharm (Pokhara University, 2007)
- Expertise: Geriatric and palliative medication safety, systematic reviews, clinical trial design, and implementation science
Shakti’s research bridges clinical pharmacy and public health, with a focus on medication optimisation for older adults with limited life expectancy. His work includes systematic reviews, clinical trials, and tool development (e.g., the HATD and De-TOPPLE frameworks). His recent articles highlight applications in opioid safety, prescribing quality, and implementation of psychotropic guidelines in aged care.
