Shaimaa Abdellah

Shaimaa Abdellah is a Researcher at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF) in the Research Department Transnational Politics since 2023. Her work focuses on Islamist radicalization in Germany and Europe, transnational digital activism, and political communication in the MENA region.

Education:

• M.A. in Global Communication: Politics and Society, University of Erfurt (2019–2022)
• B.A. in Mass Communication (Radio, TV & Journalism), Cairo University (2014–2018)

Her research intersects with issues of antisemitism, antimuslim racism, and societal responses to extremism. She co-authored publications on radicalization trends and contributes to the RADIS transfer project, analyzing societal causes and policy options for Islamist extremism in Germany.

Scientific Awards:

• International Parliamentary Scholarship (IPS) of the German Bundestag (2021)
• Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung scholarship (2019–2022)

Abdellah is actively involved in the RADIS project and has participated in initiatives like the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) and Women for the Middle East e.V.
