Shahriar Amini

Shahriar (Sean) Amini is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alabama, where he also serves as Director of the Alabama Renewable Energy Program (AREP) and Assistant Director of the Alabama Industrial Assessment Center (AIAC). His research focuses on sustainable energy technologies including direct air capture systems, industrial CO2 capture, clean hydrogen production, and CO2 utilization for chemical synthesis.

Dr. Amini's research combines experimental demonstration with process simulation to develop novel solutions for decarbonization. Key projects include: 1) Advanced sorbent development for CO2 capture 2) Chemical looping technologies 3) Membrane-assisted reforming for hydrogen/ammonia production 4) Life cycle assessment of renewable fuels.
