Professor Shahin Rahimifard is a Professor of Sustainable Engineering at Loughborough University, holding Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. He has over twenty years of experience in R&D projects, combining academic roles with industrial collaborations across manufacturing sectors.
He earned his BSc in Computing and Mathematics from Brighton University, followed by an MSc in Computer Integrated Manufacture and a PhD in Operational Planning of Manufacturing Systems from Loughborough University in 1996.
His research focuses on sustainability within Life Cycle Engineering, including sustainable product design, low-carbon manufacturing systems, and circular economy strategies such as product service systems and end-of-life management. He leads projects on automation in remanufacturing and recycling, supported by industrial partnerships.
Professional affiliations include Fellowships with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Higher Education Academy.
He has advised manufacturing SMEs and large industries on supply chain optimization, environmental management, and sustainable business models through interdisciplinary collaborations.
