Shafkat Anwar

Dr. Shafkat Anwar is an Associate Professor in Pediatrics with a joint appointment in Radiology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine. He serves as the Director of the Pediatric Heart Center's Cardiac MRI and 3D+ Programs and is also a Co-Founder and Co-Director of the UCSF Center for Advanced 3D+ Technologies (CA3D+). Additionally, he is a founding member and the inaugural Chair of the Advanced 3D+ Visualization Special Interest Group in the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance.

Dr. Anwar completed his medical degree at The George Washington University in 2005, followed by a Pediatrics residency at Children's National Medical Center. He then pursued fellowships in Pediatric Cardiology at Cleveland Clinic (2012) and Advanced Cardiac Imaging at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (2013), along with a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health.

His research focuses on pediatric cardiology, particularly non-invasive cardiac imaging techniques including echocardiography and cardiac MRI, with a strong emphasis on the application of 3D printing technology in congenital heart disease.
