Shafaat Rabbani, MD, is a Professor in the Department of Medicine at McGill University and a Senior Scientist at the RI-MUHC Glen Site within the Metabolic Disorders and Complications Program under the Centre for Translational Biology. His work bridges clinical practice at the MUHC Division of Endocrinology with translational research in epigenetics and cancer biology.
Research focuses on DNA methylation signatures in breast cancer, prostate cancer, and osteoporosis for clinical application. His group develops epigenetic therapies to block cancer progression through methyl donor S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) and uPA/PAI-1 pathway inhibition. They utilize xenograft and transgenic models to validate therapeutic approaches.
