Seçil Daǧtaș is an Associate Professor at the University of Waterloo, affiliated with the Balsillie School of International Affairs. She specializes in political anthropology, focusing on gender politics, secular governance of religious diversity, and the cultural dynamics of displacement. Her work bridges theoretical inquiries with ethnographic fieldwork in Turkey, Cyprus, and the broader Middle East.

Recent grants include the Germaine Tillion Chair (2025-2026), SSHRC Insight Grant (2021-2025), and Regional Studies Association Grant (2018-2020). She has held fellowships at the Collegium de Lyon and Nantes Institute for Advanced Study.
