Dr. Severine Roselli Dayas is an Honorary Lecturer in the School of Biomedical Sciences and Pharmacy at the University of Newcastle, specializing in Medical Biochemistry. Her research focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying kidney disease and cancer, particularly in tissue homeostasis and basement membrane interactions. She holds a PhD from the University of Paris and has received notable awards, including the Cancer Institute NSW ECR Fellowship (2007–2010) and a French Foundation for Medical Research (FRM) postdoctoral fellowship. Her work spans cancer cell biology, nephrology, and medical genetics, with a strong emphasis on protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) and its role in tumorigenesis and kidney disease.
Dr. Roselli Dayas has established mouse models for breast and kidney diseases and collaborated extensively on projects involving neurotrophin receptors and PP2A regulatory subunits. Her lab investigates biomarkers and therapeutic targets, such as CD151 and PP2A-B55α, to improve treatment strategies for cancers and kidney disorders. She has co-supervised six PhD students, focusing on topics like PP2A’s role in breast cancer and genetic modifiers of kidney diseases.
Her recent research highlights include the functional role of PP2A regulatory subunits in breast cancer progression and developmental biology, as well as the identification of proNGF and TrkA as biomarkers in thyroid and breast cancers. Dr. Roselli Dayas has secured multiple grants, including NHMRC funding, and her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and innovation.
Dr. Roselli Dayas actively collaborates with institutions like the Hunter Medical Research Institute and has contributed to over 25 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference presentations, emphasizing translational research from bench to bedside.
Her academic affiliations include the University of Newcastle, where she continues to advance interdisciplinary research in cancer biology and nephrology.
