Seungbae Park is a Professor at Ulsan National Institute Of Science And Technology (UNIST) in South Korea. He earned his PhD in Philosophy from the University of Arizona in 2001. His academic career focuses on philosophy of science, meta-ethics, and related fields, where he has established himself as a significant contributor to contemporary philosophical debates.
Dr. Park specializes in the philosophy of science, with particular expertise in scientific realism debates, induction problems, and the relationship between scientific and moral reasoning. His research interests span philosophy of mathematics, epistemology, philosophy of mind, meta-ethics, and philosophy of religion. He has developed original positions such as moral functionalism and stage theory of scientific development, while critically engaging with major philosophical problems including Hume's problem of induction and evolutionary debunking arguments.
His recent publications (2024-2025) demonstrate a cohesive research program examining the foundations of scientific and moral reasoning. Park's work consistently bridges traditional philosophical problems with contemporary debates, particularly in connecting scientific realism discussions with meta-ethical theories. His articles reveal a methodological approach that identifies patterns across philosophical problems while developing novel solutions to long-standing issues in epistemology and philosophy of science.
As an active scholar, Park has served as an anonymous referee for numerous prestigious philosophy journals and book publishers, including Journal of Philosophy, Philosophy of Science, and Cambridge Elements. His work has appeared in leading philosophy journals such as Synthese, Metaphysica, and European Journal for Philosophy of Science.
