Seung-Youn Oh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Bryn Mawr College. She concurrently serves as Faculty Director for the China, Korea, and Japan sections of the Global Immersion Program at the Wharton Business School (University of Pennsylvania) and is a Visiting Faculty member at INSEAD Business School.
She holds a B.A. in Political Science from Yonsei University (where she graduated as valedictorian), including an exchange year at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
Her research explores international relations and comparative politics in East Asia, with emphasis on China's economic statecraft, economy-security nexus, industrial upgrading, corporate governance, foreign direct investment impacts, and the Chinese government's evolving role in development. She is currently authoring a book titled Turning China Fever into China Fear? China’s Economic Statecraft and Weaponized Economic Interdependence.
