Serra-Willow Buchanan

Serra-Willow Buchanan serves as a Postdoctoral Fellow (Research Fellow) at the School of Environmental Science, University of Guelph, where she conducts research on enhancing climate resilience in agricultural systems through plant-soil interactions with emphasis on carbon sequestration and soil health.

Her research spans Climate Change Mitigation in Agriculture, Soil Science, Carbon Sequestration, Agroecology, and Sustainable Agriculture. Dr. Buchanan investigates how deep-rooting crops and agroecological systems increase soil organic matter and carbon storage in low-input and perennial systems, developing strategies to improve soil function and ensure long-term carbon stability for sustainable food production. Her work integrates environmental science with practical agricultural solutions to address climate change impacts.
