Dr. Serita Frey is a Professor in the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment at the University of New Hampshire. Her research focuses on the impacts of anthropogenic stressors such as climate change, nitrogen deposition, and invasive species on soil microbial communities and nutrient cycling processes. She integrates microbial ecology, ecosystem science, and soil chemistry to examine structure-function linkages in terrestrial ecosystems.
- Ph.D. in Ecology, Colorado State University
- M.S. and B.A. in Environmental Science, University of Virginia
Dr. Frey's research explores:
- Soil microbial community responses to global change drivers
- Carbon and nitrogen cycling under anthropogenic stressors
- Interdisciplinary approaches combining microbiology and stable isotope analysis
Recent publications highlight soil carbon fluxes under warming and nitrogen enrichment, microbial efficiency in carbon cycling, and fungal-bacterial dynamics in decomposition. Her work spans climate change ecology, biogeochemical modeling, and wetland ecosystem functions.
Scientific awards:
- Outstanding Associate Professor Award (2011)
