Serhane Zerdane is a Staff Scientist at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), specifically within the Pump Laser Group of the Laboratory for Non-linear Optics since September 2021. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the Institute of Physics of Rennes (IPR), obtained in 2017 under the supervision of Prof. Eric Collet and Dr. Marco Cammarata, and a Master’s degree in Physics from the University of Rennes 1 (2014). His research focuses on ultrafast dynamics in materials using advanced optical and X-ray spectroscopic techniques.
- Institutional Responsibilities: Provides optical laser support for Bernina endstation experiments, maintains ultrafast laser systems (UV-THz), develops diagnostic tools, and operates within the SLAB laser lab.
- Research Focus: Manipulation of electronic/structural properties in strongly correlated materials via NIR-THZ excitation.
