معرفی
Prof. Dr. Serhan Şensoy is a Vice Rector and Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU). With over 25 years of academic experience, he specializes in structural engineering, seismic performance assessment, and corrosion effects on infrastructure.
Education
- PhD in Civil Engineering, Eastern Mediterranean University (1999)
- MS in Civil Engineering, Eastern Mediterranean University (1995)
- BS in Civil Engineering, Eastern Mediterranean University (1993)
Research Interests
His research focuses on seismic vulnerability of reinforced concrete buildings, nonlinear dynamic analysis, soil-pile-structure interaction, and time-dependent degradation of structures due to corrosion. He has extensively studied meta-heuristic algorithms for collapse risk prediction and developed novel methods for stability coefficient analysis in earthquake engineering.
Key trends in his recent publications include semi-active vibration control systems, biaxial seismic excitation effects, and machine learning applications for damage classification. Earlier works explored fundamental nonlinear oscillation theories and educational pedagogy in English teaching.
Thesis Supervision
Prof. Şensoy has supervised 8 PhD theses and 15 Master's theses, including studies on seismic strengthening techniques, fiber-reinforced concrete, and probabilistic demand modeling.
