Sergiy Rosokha is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Ball State University's Department of Chemistry, part of the College of Sciences and Humanities. He holds a Ph.D. from the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and an M.S. from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. His research focuses on intermolecular interactions, particularly halogen bonding and anion-π bonding, which influence molecular recognition and material properties. He leads the Rosokha Research Group, supported by grants from the NSF and ACS Petroleum Research Fund. Students in his lab gain expertise in synthesis, spectroscopy, and computational analysis.
His research explores how halogen and anion-π bonds affect chemical reactivity and materials science applications, including crystal engineering and electron transfer processes. Recent studies include the role of halogen bonds in supramolecular assemblies and the covalency continuum in molecular interactions. He emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, integrating physics and mathematics to address problems in organic, inorganic, and analytical chemistry.
Key awards include NSF RUI Grant CHE-1607746 and ACS PRF #56516. His work has led to advancements in understanding electron transfer mechanisms and designing functional materials through supramolecular chemistry.
