Sergio Capella Castillo

Sergio Capella Castillo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work and Social Services at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Valencia. He is affiliated with the GESinn Social Studies Group: Intervention and Innovation, where his work focuses on social intervention and innovation in youth care systems.

His research centers on socioeducational intervention strategies for at-risk adolescents, particularly examining protective factors within youth day centers. His doctoral work explored how structured socioeducational programs influence adolescent development and resilience. Key areas of interest include youth welfare, protective systems in social work, and innovative practices in social services.

He completed his PhD at the University of Valencia with a thesis titled Factores de protección de los centros de día de menores: Incidencia de la intervención socioeducativa en adolescentes en riesgo (2020), supervised by Dr. Mercedes Botija and Dr. José Javier Navarro Pérez.
