Sergio Alcocer serves as Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Construction Management at the Margie and Bill Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design, The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).
His academic foundation includes a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 1986 and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 1991.
Dr. Alcocer's research centers on structural engineering with specialized focus in earthquake engineering, masonry structures, and concrete technology. His work addresses critical challenges in seismic resilience of infrastructure and construction management practices, particularly through experimental validation of structural systems under extreme loads.
His scholarly impact is reflected in multiple awards from the Masonry Society and American Concrete Institute, demonstrating sustained contributions to structural engineering standards and North American academic collaboration.
