Prof. Sergij Goerdt is a faculty member at the Medical Faculty Mannheim, part of Heidelberg University, where he leads the Research Group "Angiodiversity and Organ Function" alongside Dr. Philipp-Sebastian Koch. His work focuses on endothelial heterogeneity and its role in organ-specific functions, particularly in the liver microvasculature.

Research Interests revolve around angiodiversity—the structural and functional diversity of microvasculature. His team investigates endothelial differentiation in liver development, metabolic maturation, and iron homeostasis, identifying key angiokines like Wnt2 and Bmp2. They also explore how hepatic vascular niches contribute to hepatotropic metastasis and hepatocarcinogenesis through adhesion molecules (Stab1, CD32b) and scavenger receptors.
Publication Trends highlight angiocrine signaling in liver physiology, tumor-associated macrophages, and vascular niche dynamics. His studies often integrate molecular biology, signaling pathways (Wnt, Bmp2, p38MAPK), and translational approaches to liver disease and cancer.
