Sergi Sabater Cortes is a Professor of Ecology at the University of Girona (UdG) and a senior researcher at the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA). His work focuses on the impacts of water scarcity, pollutants, and global change on river ecosystems, particularly examining the role of algae and biofilms as foundational components of the river food web.
