Sergey V. Ablameyko

Sergey V. Ablameyko is a Full Professor at Belarusian State University, where he serves as Chairman of the Scientific Council. An Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus since 2009, he also chairs the Academic Council of the United Institute of Informatics Problems in Minsk. His career combines academic leadership with research in computer vision and intelligent systems.

He holds a 1978 Mathematics diploma from Belarusian State University and earned his doctorate in Information Processing Systems from the Institute of Cybernetics (Ukrainian Academy of Sciences) in 1984.

His research focuses on:

• Advanced image analysis and pattern recognition methods
• Computational geometry and graphics modeling
• Geospatial technology applications in GIS
• Medical imaging diagnostics and knowledge-based AI systems

Professor Ablameyko has led major international projects funded by the European Commission (Copernicus, INTAS, Framework Programmes) and directed Russian-Belarusian initiatives in space/supercomputing technologies with budgets exceeding $10M. He holds editorial roles for Pattern Recognition and Image Analysis and Machine Graphics and Vision journals.

Honors include:

• Russian Friendship Prize

He maintains professional affiliations with IEEE (as Dean) and the International Association for Pattern Recognition.
