Serge Carrier

Serge Carrier, MD, FRCSC, is Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Urology, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at McGill University and serves as an Investigator at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) within the Child Health and Human Development Program. His clinical and academic activities are centered at the MUHC Glen site.

His research is dedicated to improving men’s health, with particular emphasis on hypogonadism, sexual and bladder dysfunction, lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), and benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH). Through translational and clinical studies he has advanced understanding and management of these conditions.

Across more than two decades, his peer-reviewed articles have shaped the field of sexual medicine and urology. His work explores pharmacotherapies for erectile dysfunction, including landmark randomized controlled trials of tadalafil and vardenafil, real-world evidence studies on sildenafil, and systematic reviews evaluating emerging treatments such as platelet-rich plasma injections for erectile dysfunction and Peyronie’s disease. Other publications provide authoritative reviews on testosterone replacement therapy and the pathophysiology of erectile dysfunction.

Dr Carrier has collaborated extensively with Canadian and international investigators, leading or co-authoring pivotal studies that have influenced clinical guidelines and patient care standards in andrology and urology.
