Serdar Nergiz is a Professor at the Physics Department of Boğaziçi University, where he has held academic positions since 1989. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics from Bogaziçi University (1989), M.Sc. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (1985), and B.Sc. from Ankara University (1982). His research focuses on theoretical physics, particularly string theory, self-dual Yang-Mills fields, monopole/instanton/vortex solutions, and alternative cosmological models.
He has translated the textbook Physics: Classical and Modern into Turkish as Fizik 1. Cilt and Fizik 2. Cilt (1995). His recent project (2013-2016) investigated alternative cosmological theories to ΛCDM and inflationary models under BAP Proje No: 7128. He teaches a broad range of physics courses including advanced theoretical and experimental modules.
His research interests emphasize mathematical physics and quantum field theory applications, with notable work on Seiberg-Witten equations, monopole condensates, and spacetime foam concepts. Publications span topics from string theory vertex operators to gravitational metric models.
