Serdal Temel is a Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Southampton (UK) and holds key roles at Ege University, including former Head of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Department (2015–2018). He leads Ege University's EBILTEM Technology Transfer Office and actively participates in international organizations like the Organization of Islamic Countries' R&D Working Group and the European Commission's Enterprise Europe Network. His work bridges academia, industry, and public sectors through innovation management and technology transfer initiatives.
Research interests focus on innovation ecosystems, SME development, university-industry collaboration, and entrepreneurial education. He has pioneered programs converting teaching-focused universities into innovation hubs, exemplified by his Turkish case studies and transnational mentorship roles in Albania and Russia (recognized as top mentors by the EU).
Publications emphasize SME innovation strategies, knowledge transfer mechanisms, and barriers in emerging economies. His work highlights how network partnerships and openness drive innovation success in small enterprises.
