Dr. Seongkum Heo serves as Professor and Piedmont Healthcare Endowed Chair at Mercer University's College of Nursing. With over twelve years of prior faculty experience at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Indiana University, she maintains active roles in research, teaching, and professional leadership within cardiovascular nursing.
Her educational background includes:

Dr. Heo's research focuses on heart failure quality of life, self-care management, and palliative care, examining physical symptoms, psychosocial factors, neurohormones, and inflammation. Her work spans chronic disease management including diabetes and end-of-life care, with emphasis on patient-caregiver dyads and cultural adaptations. She develops and validates clinical assessment tools while investigating modifiable factors influencing health outcomes.
