Selin Oktan

Dr. Selin Oktan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture at Karadeniz Technical University's Faculty of Architecture. She has been affiliated with the university since 2011, initially as a Research Assistant before assuming her current faculty position in 2024. Her educational background includes a doctorate (2015-2021) and postgraduate degree (2012-2015) from Karadeniz Technical University, and an undergraduate degree (2005-2009) from Eskisehir Osmangazi University.

Her research focuses on computational design methodologies, digital fabrication techniques, and innovative pedagogical approaches in architectural education. Key research areas include:

• Robotic manufacturing and 3D printing applications
• Parametric design workflows
• Computational thinking in design education
• Historic design methodologies (Bauhaus) in contemporary practice
• Healthcare architecture and specialized facility design

She has received notable recognition including:

Oktan actively contributes to research infrastructure, co-managing the Computational Design and Fabrication Laboratory and participating in multiple funded projects on digital fabrication technologies and architectural education innovation.
