Prof. Dr. Selami TURAN is a faculty member in the Department of Old Turkish Literature at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. His academic journey includes a licentiate (1992) and MA (1995) in Turkish Language and Literature from Erciyes University, followed by a PhD in Old Turkish Literature from Gazi University (2000). His research interests span Literature-Poetry, Marbling, Calligraphy, Art Education, Illumination Art, Literature-Poetry-Theater, Old Turkish Literature, and Persian Language and Literature. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, focusing on classical Turkish poetry, authorship analysis, and cultural studies. His recent work includes studies on political poetry, regional poets like Râmiz Celâl, and the interplay between calligraphy and literature. He teaches courses such as 'Early Turkish Poetry' and 'Prose Genres in Classical Turkish Literature.' His contributions include co-editing books like Türk Dünyası Edebiyat Kavramları ve Terimleri Sözlüğü (2023) and Edebiyat ve Dil Yazıları Mustafa İsen’e Armağan (2023). His research frequently bridges historical texts with contemporary methodologies, emphasizing cultural and artistic dimensions in literature.
