Seema Deshpande

Seema Deshpande is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She serves as the Director of the Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship Program and Interim Vice Chair for Faculty Development. Her clinical expertise spans cardiothoracic, vascular, and general surgical anesthesiology, with a focus on electrophysiology procedures.

• Education: MBBS from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (1992), Residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital (1998-2001), Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at Washington University (2001-2002).

Her research interests include perioperative management in cardiac surgery, thromboelastometry applications, and medical education reforms. Recent publications analyze pain management protocols, coagulation monitoring, and diversity initiatives in anesthesiology training.
