Sebastián Mora Rosado

Professor Sebastián Mora Rosado is an Assistant Professor at Comillas Pontifical University's Faculty of Theology, Department of Moral Theology and Praxis of Christian Life. With a PhD in Sociology from the University of Zaragoza and degrees in Philosophy and Social Doctrine of the Church, he specializes in social intervention with marginalized groups, applied ethics, and the Social Doctrine of the Church. He holds significant leadership roles as Social Coordinator of the Chair of Energy and Poverty and member of the José María Martín Patino Chair of the Culture of Encounter.

His educational background includes a Master's Degree in Social Doctrine of the Church from Comillas Pontifical University, a PhD in Sociology from the University of Zaragoza, a University Specialist Degree in Non-Profit Organization Management from UNED, and a degree in Philosophy and Letters from Comillas Pontifical University.

Professor Mora Rosado's research focuses on ethics of development cooperation, theology of charity, social doctrine of the Church, third sector dynamics, exclusion and social intervention, sociology of religions, and energy poverty. His work bridges theological ethics with practical social intervention, particularly addressing vulnerability, marginalization, and social exclusion. His research demonstrates a consistent focus on the intersection of faith-based social action and contemporary social challenges.

His extensive publication record (over 70 works since 1995) shows evolving trends from early studies on volunteerism to current work on energy poverty, social exclusion, and the culture of discard. His recent scholarship increasingly addresses contemporary crises including energy vulnerability, migration challenges, and social fragmentation, while maintaining theological and ethical grounding.

Professor Mora Rosado serves as trustee of the Foessa Foundation and Save the Children Foundation in Spain, and has held significant leadership positions including Executive Director of the Foessa Foundation and Secretary General of Caritas Española. His professional experience spans over 25 years in social intervention, beginning with immigrant support and evolving through various leadership roles in Caritas Madrid and Caritas Española.

He is actively involved with the José María Martín Patino Chair of the Culture of Encounter, where he coordinates research on social vulnerability and community building. His work integrates academic scholarship with practical social action through various research groups and institutional partnerships focused on social justice and inclusion.
