Associate Professor Sebastiano Barbieri is an Associate Professor and Principal Research Fellow at the Queensland Digital Health Centre, The University of Queensland (UQ), and Adjunct Associate Professor at the Centre for Big Data Research in Health, UNSW. His work bridges machine learning and healthcare, focusing on computational methods for medical challenges. He develops AI-driven solutions for risk prediction using electronic health records, medical image processing, and ethical AI integration in clinical workflows.
Education: Holds a Bachelor of Mathematics and Master of Image Processing from Universität des Saarlandes, a PhD in Computer Science from Jacobs University, and a Master of Biostatistics from Macquarie University.
