Sebastian Houben

Prof. Sebastian Houben holds the Chair of Robot Vision and Machine Learning at the Department of Computer Science, Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences. He concurrently serves as International Affairs Representative and Head of the Master's Examination Board for Autonomous Systems. His academic affiliations include the Institute for AI and Autonomous Systems (A2S) and the Institute of Technology, Resource Conservation and Energy Efficiency (TREE).

Research focuses on AI-driven solutions in autonomous systems, digital twins, and data literacy. Notable projects include:

• INNERVATE: AI-based driver maneuver evaluation for automotive safety
• DKZ.2R: Cross-disciplinary data literacy center for researchers
• DigitalTwin-4-Multiphysics-Lab: Urban-industrial digital twin applications
• GARRULUS: AI-powered forest reforestation via drone seeding

He leads multiple collaborative initiatives including the KIMODE project optimizing AI design-of-experiments and the Rhine-Ruhr data competency center. Prof. Houben is an active member of the North Rhine-Westphalia Doctoral College.
